OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.
Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.
📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Chelun sits quietly within the bocage, where the landscape is defined by the gentle movement of the Ruisseau de Roches and the nearby Étang de Roches. The horizon is framed by the enduring presence of the Forêt de la Guerche, while the distant summit of l'Escart rises above the rolling fields. A visitor might wander toward the ancient Pierre de Richebourg or explore the sturdy masonry of the Moulin des Gués. Further afield, the haunting stone remnants of the Château de Pouancé stand as a testament to the layers of time embedded in this inland terrain of granite and slate.
Chelun se blottit au creux du bocage, là où le paysage s'ordonne autour du Ruisseau de Roches et de la présence paisible de l'Étang de Roches. La silhouette de la Forêt de la Guerche borde l'horizon, tandis que le sommet de l'Escart dessine une ligne discrète sur les terres environnantes.
