OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.
Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.
📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.
Mode d'emploi.

Ercé-en-Lamée rests in the heart of Ille-et-Vilaine, a landscape defined by the quiet rhythms of the Breton countryside. Here, the earth is composed of granite and slate, where the Ruisseau de la Pênais winds through a tapestry of hedged bocage and sunken lanes. Close by, the Bois du Fayel offers a dense shelter of green, while the wider horizon is shaped by the presence of the Semnon river. It is a place of long, lingering light in summer, where the pace is set by the slow turning of seasons rather than the rush of the modern world.
Exploring the surrounding area reveals the quiet stones of the past. One might wander toward the Allée couverte de Pir-Han, an archaeological site that anchors the land in ancient history, or discover the dignified silhouette of the Château de la Robinais. Further out, the Manoir de l'Orgeraie stands as a testament to local heritage, complemented by the weathered Menhir de Pierre-Pin. These sites offer a glimpse into a region where the intimacy of the soil meets the enduring legacy of those who walked these paths long before.
