How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Saint-Arnoult

Saint-Arnoult rests quietly within the Plaine de Meslay, where the gentle waters of le Langeron trace a path through the fields. Nearby, the Forêt de Prunay offers a cooling shade, while the wider horizon reaches toward the valley of le Loir. This landscape of soft light and tufa stone invites slow discovery. Visitors can explore the evocative ruins of the Château de Lavardin or the nearby Château de Montoire, which command the surrounding hillsides. Further afield, the Grotte Pétrifiante reveals the strange, mineral heart of the earth, marking the transition from the open fields to the hidden depths of this storied region.
