How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Lion-en-Beauce

Lion-en-Beauce rests amidst the vast, level expanse of the Beauce, a landscape defined by the rhythmic horizon of cereal fields and the silent, imposing presence of water towers. The air here holds the stillness of the inland plains, far from the reach of the sea, where long, soft evenings settle over the earth. A short journey leads to the shadowed quiet of the Bois du Coudray or the ancient stones of the Dolmen de la Pierre Luteau, which anchors the history of the soil. Nearby, the Musée Beauceron du Grand Bréau offers an intimate look at the rural textures of this enduring land.
