Cognocoli-Monticchi sits as a drystone settlement clinging to the slopes, where the scent of immortelle drifts through the heat of the maquis. Nearby, the Ruisseau d'Aja Piana carves through the land towards the distant Mediterranean, while the summit of Punta di u Ballatoju watches over the surrounding chestnut forests. From this upland vantage, one finds the ancient Site préhistorique de Filitosa, where weathered monoliths stand as silent witnesses to deep antiquity. Further towards the coast, the ruined Tour de Frassu and the historic Tour de l'Isolella remain as stark sentinels, marking a rugged landscape defined by granite ridges and the influence of the Parc Naturel Régional de Corse.
Cognocoli-Monticchi s'accroche aux flancs de la montagne, village de pierre sèche bercé par les effluves d'immortelle qui s'échappent du maquis. Non loin, le Ruisseau d'Aja Piana serpente vers la Méditerranée, tandis que la Punta di u Ballatoju domine les châtaigneraies. Depuis ces hauteurs, le visiteur découvre le Site préhistorique de Filitosa, où des monolithes gravés défient le temps. Plus bas, vers le littoral, la Tour de Frassu et la Tour de l'Isolella se dressent en sentinelles sur les promontoires, ancrant le village dans une terre de granit et de crêtes, tout près du Parc Naturel Régional de Corse.
