How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Grandchamp

Grandchamp rests within a landscape of big cereal plains, where the air holds the stillness of the 1914-18 battlefields. Close by, the Ruisseau de Mesmont winds through a terrain defined by the Forêt Domaniale de Signy-l'Abbaye, while the horizon is marked by the distant Mont de Givron. The region invites reflection, offering visitors the chance to explore the Musée Guerre et Paix en Ardennes, a sobering anchor to the area's twentieth-century legacy. Nearby, the Château de Wasigny and the Château de Doumely rise from the earth like quiet sentinels, standing amidst the deep, tranquil rhythm of the Ardennes countryside.
