How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Assenay

Assenay rests within the quiet expanse of the Aube, a commune defined by the wide, rhythmic cereal plains that stretch toward the wooded crests of the Bois des Corriers. The Ruisseau d'Ormont wanders close by, carving a modest path through the chalky earth that lies beneath these rolling slopes. Beyond the village, the landscape opens toward the vast Parc Naturel Régional de la Forêt d'Orient. A visitor might find the elegant stone of the Château de Villemereuil nearby, or venture toward the Basilique Saint-Urbain, where delicate Gothic tracery rises above the city, or perhaps seek the tranquil shores of les entre Clos.
