How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Wiwersheim

Wiwersheim rests quietly within the rolling expanse of the Grand Est, a commune defined by the open horizon of the Rhine plain. Nearby, the Plaetzerbach traces a modest path through the landscape, while the distant, wooded crests of the Parc Naturel Régional des Vosges du Nord frame the scenery. Visitors might explore the evocative ruins of the Château du Kochersberg, seek the solid stone presence of the Château d’Osthoffen, or reflect at the Banc reposoir. Here, Germanic place names linger in the air, and the quiet rhythm of the fields suggests a land where time gathers in the shadows of the hills.
