OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.
Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.
📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.
Mode d'emploi.

Landser sits quietly within the verdant Haut-Rhin, a landscape defined by the gentle wanderings of the Ruisseau Weiherbachgraben and the nearby, shadowed reach of the Kaegywald. On the horizon, the wooded crests of the Parc Naturel Régional des Ballons des Vosges suggest a world of deep forests and quiet ridges. The village itself rests in a region where the Rhine plain unfolds, marked by the occasional stork nest atop local towers and the presence of Germanic place names that anchor the commune in its historical soil.
Beyond the village, the landscape offers contemplative landmarks. The Enceinte protohistorique de Britzgyberg stands as a silent witness to ancient human presence on the heights, while the Tour du Bollwerk remains a stoic reminder of defensive ingenuity. For those seeking cultural depth, the Cité du train presents the industrial soul of the region, and the Mémorial dédié à la catastrophe aérienne du vol d'Air France offers a place for somber reflection. These sites, set against the backdrop of the nearby Nieder Weiher, invite a slow exploration of this textured Alsatian terrain.
