How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Rupt

Rupt sits quietly within a landscape defined by the chalky earth of the Grand Est, where the Cours d'Eau 01 de Dame Cole winds its way toward the nearby Marne. The horizon is shaped by the wooded crests of the Bois de Joinville and the distant silhouette of la Montagne. Nearby, the Auditoire de Joinville offers a window into local heritage, while the elegant Château du Grand Jardin provides a stately presence. Further afield, the ancient Menhir de la Haute-Borne stands as a silent sentinel in the wider countryside, reflecting the enduring, layered stillness of this historic region.
