How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Sommerécourt

Sommerécourt rests in the quiet embrace of the Grand Est, where big cereal plains yield to the wooded crests of the Bois de Bourmont. The landscape is defined by the gentle flow of le Mouzon and the looming presence of the Haut du Sanoir, while the Trou de la Moutarde offers a hidden, earthy depth nearby. Beyond the village, the horizon holds the weathered strength of the Château de Beaufremont and the silent, stone dignity of the Abbaye de l’Étanche. Further afield, the Fort de Bourlémont stands as a stoic witness to the shifting light of these ancient, chalk-layered lands.
