How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Val-de-Meuse

Val-de-Meuse rests within the serene embrace of the Haute-Marne, where the landscape is defined by the steady presence of the Ruisseau des Aimeguenons and the quietude of the nearby Bois Guyot. The horizon is shaped by the gentle rise of Tortillemont, offering a vantage point over a countryside that feels suspended in time. Beneath the soil, the chalk holds the memory of ancient layers, supporting vast cereal plains that stretch toward the wooded crests. It is a place of profound stillness, where the air carries a weight of history and the rhythm of the seasons dictates the pace of life.

Beyond the quiet cluster of houses, the surrounding region invites contemplation of both nature and human endurance. Visitors might seek the Point triple hydrographique, a silent witness to the geography of water, or explore the somber, imposing walls of the Fort de Dampierre. Further afield, the Abbaye de Morimond stands as a testament to medieval devotion, while the Lac de Charmes offers a reflective surface for the changing sky. Each site serves as a tether to the past, grounding the traveler in a landscape that values the quietude of the earth over the clamor of the modern world.
