How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Bazancourt

Bazancourt sits amidst the vast, open cereal plains of the Marne, where the horizon stretches wide under a pale, expansive sky. The landscape is defined by the steady flow of la Suippe nearby and the quiet presence of the Bois Clos d'Eau, which offers a soft, wooded contrast to the surrounding fields. Further afield, the terrain rolls towards the slopes of the Parc Naturel Régional de la Montagne de Reims, grounding the area in the deep, chalky earth characteristic of this region. It is a place of stillness, where the memory of the past lingers in the quiet air.

Beyond the village, the wider countryside reveals layers of history and structure. A short journey leads to the Porte de Mars, an ancient Roman gate that stands as a silent sentinel in the nearby city. Visitors might also explore the Cryptoportique de Reims, an atmospheric subterranean site, or step into the Musée de la Reddition to reflect on the gravity of the twentieth century. For those intrigued by local industry and innovation, the Musée de l'Automobile presents a collection that chronicles the evolution of travel across these very plains.
