How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Damery

Damery sits within the quiet, vine-combed slopes of the Parc Naturel Régional de la Montagne de Reims, where the earth is defined by deep chalk. Nearby, the Ru de Brunet flows through the landscape, while the Bois des Loges provides a dense, wooded anchor to the horizon. It is a place of settled stillness, where the rhythm of the seasons is dictated by the vine and the slow passage of water toward the larger currents of la Marne. The air carries the subtle weight of the region’s history, resting light upon the fields and the ancient, chalk-carved foundations of the surrounding countryside.

A short journey reveals the profound character of this landscape, where the past remains quietly present. One might walk toward the Borne Vauthier to reflect on the somber stillness of the battlefields, or visit the Enceinte de l'abbaye Saint-Pierre d'Hautvillers, which stands as a testament to long-standing contemplation. The architecture of the Portail de l'Église Saint-Martin (ancienne) offers a trace of earlier craftsmanship, while the Avenue de Champagne reminds the visitor of the industry held within the deep, chalky cellars. It is a terrain where the earth itself, layered with flint and stone, shapes every path taken.
