How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Montgenost

Montgenost rests within a landscape defined by the quiet presence of the Bois de Montgenost and the rolling elevation of la Motte Louise. Here, the dry, chalky earth of the Champagne pouilleuse stretches toward the distant, silken currents of la Seine and the nearby flow of la Noxe. It is a place of profound stillness, where one might wander toward the haunting remnants of the Abbaye de Nesle-la-Reposte or explore the architectural weight of the Château de Sellières. Further out, the ancient, enduring stones of the Dolmen du Pavois offer a silent anchor to this expanse of sky and cereal plains.
