How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Vernancourt

Vernancourt rests within a landscape defined by the quiet passage of la Vière and the surrounding cereal plains. Beyond the village, the terrain rises toward the slopes of Hautimont and the dense canopy of the Bois des Usages, while the nearby Étang des Noues reflects the expansive sky. Within the wider countryside, one discovers the enduring stonework of the Abbaye de Trois Fontaines and the storied Château d'Etrepy. Further afield, the Collegiale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption stands as a testament to the region's heritage, all set against a backdrop of chalky soil and the lingering, still air of the historic battlefields.
