How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Courcelles

Courcelles rests upon the plateau, a place where the forest comes right up to the fields and the Ruisseau des Pierres winds through the quiet landscape. This is a land of red ochre stone, where the horizon is marked by the distant Signal de Vaudémont. Nearby, the Colline de Sion rises as a landmark of local devotion, offering a view over the wider countryside. Visitors often explore the striking Basilique Notre-Dame de Sion or wander toward the Bois du Chanot. Between these slopes and the distant valley of le Madon, the village maintains the steady, measured pace of life found in the heart of the Grand Est.
