OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.
Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.
📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.
Mode d'emploi.

Les Baroches sits quietly upon a landscape defined by the Ruisseau de la Latang, where the forest meets the fields in a gentle, rolling transition. This is a region of iron and salt, where the memory of mine galleries lingers beneath the earth and the horizon is marked by the Haut de Mèche. Nearby, the ruins of the Abbaye de Saint-Pierremont offer a silent, stone-wrought history, while the sprawling Bois de Woëvre invites slow passage through its timber. For those seeking the water’s edge, the Aire de Loisirs du Plan d'Eau de la Sangsue provides a serene retreat into the natural rhythm of the countryside.
