How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Murville

Murville rests upon a quiet plateau where the forest meets the fields, a landscape defined by the red ochre stone of its quiet streets. Near the summit of Loquemine and the dense Bois de Murville, the rhythm of the land follows the gentle flow of les Charmes. Beyond the village, one finds the evocative ruins of the Abbaye de Saint-Pierremont, standing as a silent witness to time. Further into the wider countryside, the Ouvrage de Bréhain and the Nécropole Mérovingienne offer a grounded look at the layers of history that shape this rugged, iron-rich territory.
