How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Vaudémont

Vaudémont sits upon the plateau, a place defined by the quiet meeting of forest and field. Here, the red ochre stone anchors the village as the Bois de Plaimont presses against the cultivated earth, while the Ruisseau du Tabourin hums through the nearby valleys. Rising above the landscape, the Signal de Vaudémont offers a vantage point over the cuesta. A short journey leads to the Colline de Sion, a site of profound stillness, and the nearby Basilique Notre-Dame de Sion, which stands as a sentinel of limestone and memory. Further afield, the Monument Barrès marks the horizon, grounding the visitor in this rugged terrain of iron and earth.
