How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Champougny

Champougny rests upon the quiet plateau, a landscape defined by the iron and salt of the earth and the cool presence of la Meuse flowing nearby. The village stands where the forest meets the fields, its character shaped by the nearby Grévigne woodland and the delicate biodiversity of the Réserve Naturelle Régionale des Éboulis et Pelouses Calcaires de Pagny-la-Blanche-Côte et Champougny. Beyond the village streets, one might find the Plage de Champougny, a modest shore for reflection. Further into the wider countryside, the stone walls of the Château de Gombervaux stand as a silent witness to the passage of time, while the distant Bonnet summit rises against the sky.
