OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.
Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.
📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.
Mode d'emploi.

Kerbach rests upon the undulating plateau of the Moselle, a landscape defined by the quiet persistence of the Waeschbach and the looming, wooded rise of the Wingertsknopf. Here, the forest edges directly against the fields, and the air carries the subtle memory of iron and salt. It is a place of red ochre stone and hidden orchards, where the terrain slopes gently toward the distant, wider currents of la Sarre. Within this quiet corner of the Grand Est, the horizon is shaped by the ancient, rhythmic cycles of the earth and the deep, silent presence of the Brandenbusch.
A short journey into the wider countryside reveals the industrial and historical layers of this region. One may walk through the somber, echoing stillness of the Bataille de Forbach-Spicheren battlefield, or explore the legacy of extraction at the Puits Sainte-Marthe. The ruins of the Château du Schlossberg stand as a testament to the passage of time, while the Moulin de la Blies offers a glimpse into the local craftsmanship of another era. These sites ground the visitor in a landscape where memory and the natural world remain inextricably linked, far from the hurried pace of the modern world.
