How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Rouceux, Neufchâteau

Rouceux sits as a quiet quarter of Neufchâteau, anchored within a landscape of plateau and cuesta where the forest meets the fields. The Ruisseau de l'Abreuvoir flows through this terrain, shaped by the nearby summit of Crufeuille and the wooded expanse of Bois Claudot. The region holds memories of iron, salt, and red ochre stone. A short distance away, the Fort de Bourlémont stands as a silent sentinel over the valley, while the Château de Bourlémont and the Abbaye de l'Étanche offer glimpses into a past defined by the rivers and the deep, persistent silence of the Meuse countryside.
