How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Caumont

Caumont sits quietly within the expansive plains of the Aisne, where the horizon is defined by the gentle rise of the Mont de Villette and the steady presence of the Ru de Pontoise. The landscape is a patchwork of beet and wheat, punctuated by the deep green of the Bois de Berny. Beyond the village, the region bears the solemn, grey-skied weight of history. Travelers might explore the haunting Vestiges du site du prieuré, discover the enduring stone of the Château de Blérancourt, or gaze upon the rugged remnants of the Château de Coucy, all standing as stoic witnesses to the centuries.
