How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Lanchy

Lanchy sits quietly amidst a wide, open plain where beet and wheat fields stretch toward the horizon under a vast, shifting sky. The landscape is defined by the steady presence of the Long Bois and the gentle rise of la Tête Défulée, while nearby the waters of the Étang de Bihécourt catch the low grey clouds. Visitors can explore the solemn remnants of the Château de Ham, walk the earthworks of the Oppidum des Viromanduens, or find the storied Menhir dit la Pierre de Gargantua. It is a land of brick farms and quiet rhythms, where the distance between things is measured in the slow passage of light across the damp earth.
