How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Le Catelet

Le Catelet sits amidst the wide, open plains of the Aisne, where the horizon is dominated by the vast, shifting skies of Hauts-de-France. The landscape is a patchwork of beet and wheat fields, traced by the steady flow of the Rivière Escaut and the shelter of the nearby Bois de la Terrière. Nearby, the silent, rows of the Cimetière et mémorial américain de la Somme offer a sober reflection on the region’s history. Travelers may also wander toward the crumbling grandeur of the Abbaye de Vaucelles or find solace near the historic stonework of the Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Martin, both standing as quiet sentinels in the rural expanse.

À propos de Le Catelet

Le Catelet s'inscrit au cœur des vastes plaines de l'Aisne, sous un ciel changeant typique des paysages du Hauts-de-France.
