How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Bornel

Bornel rests in the quiet expanse of the Oise department, where the landscape is defined by the gentle presence of the Bois de Bornel and the meandering path of l'Esches. The horizon is wide, dominated by the rhythmic patterns of beet and wheat fields that stretch toward the subtle rise of le Haut Enclos. Beneath low grey clouds, the earth feels solid and industrious, a place where the proximity of the Parc Naturel Régional du Vexin Français offers a sanctuary of rolling green spaces just a short journey away.

Within the commune, the presence of the Château de Fosseuse anchors the local identity, standing as a testament to the quiet endurance of the region. A short distance away, the Allée couverte de la côte du Libéra offers a glimpse into the ancient past, its weathered stones resting amidst the quiet fields. Visitors may also discover the Domaine de Balincourt, where the architecture reflects the stately traditions of the area, or explore the ruins of the Château féodal, which loom over the landscape with a sense of silent, historical gravity.
