How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

Map search is available for a limited number of queries per session to manage costs. Be specific — search precisely for best results.

About Épénancourt

Épénancourt rests within the open, working landscape of the Somme, where vast fields of beet and wheat stretch toward a horizon defined by big skies and the low, grey clouds of the Hauts-de-France. The Canal du Nord traces the plains near the village, while the nearby Bois Coutelet offers a quiet refuge of trees. Beyond the local fields, the water-filled silence of the Marais et Tourbières des Vallées de la Somme et de l'Avre provides a habitat for wilder life. Nearby, visitors might contemplate the ruined walls of the château d'Happlaincourt, the ancient stone of the Menhir dit la Pierre de Gargantua, or the solemn gravity of the Historial de la Grande Guerre.
