How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Pont-Noyelles

Pont-Noyelles sits quietly within a landscape of wide, open plains where beet and wheat fields stretch towards the horizon under vast, shifting skies. The gentle Cybirre flows nearby, while the silhouette of Mont Dromel rises in the distance and the dense Bois de Parmont offers a refuge of shade. Nearby, the brick architecture of the Château de Querrieu anchors the local history, and the solemn rows of the nearby war cemeteries remind visitors of the heavy toll paid in the Somme. Exploring further, the archaeological site at Ribemont-sur-Ancre reveals deep layers of the past, standing silent amidst the low grey clouds and the quietude of the surrounding countryside.
