OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.
Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.
📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.
Mode d'emploi.

Saint-Hilaire sits quietly within the limestone landscape of the Essonne, where the soft light filters through the canopy of the Bois de la Montagne. Nearby, the gentle flow of la Louette traces a path through the fields, while the horizon is marked by the distant Butte Saint-Martin. Visitors can explore the ancient Menhir de Pierrefitte standing silent in the fields or wander the grounds of the Prieuré (ancien). Not far away, the vast Fontainebleau et Gâtinais biosphere reserve offers a glimpse into the wilder, sandy heart of the region, where sandstone boulders rest under the shade of ancient trees.
