How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Puteaux

Puteaux rests along the banks of la Seine, a landscape where the fluidity of the river meets the structured horizon of the Île-de-France. The area is defined by the gentle curve of the water and the presence of the Île de Puteaux, which offers a green refuge amidst the urban bustle. Nearby, the Bois de Boulogne provides a vast expanse of woodland, echoing the character of the royal forests that once defined the region. The air here carries the faint, shifting quality of the impressionists' river light, grounding the modern surroundings in a timeless, pastoral atmosphere that lingers despite the proximity of the bustling capital.

The town maintains a distinct character, balancing its historic roots with the relentless momentum of contemporary progress. Its economy and daily rhythm are deeply intertwined with the neighboring la Défense, creating a unique juxtaposition between quiet, traditional streets and the towering scale of the Grande Arche de la Défense. This duality gives the commune a restless, industrious energy, where the classic architecture of the Hôtel de Ville de Puteaux stands as a reminder of a more measured era, overlooking squares that feel both grounded and caught in the transit of modern life.

Culture in Puteaux is found in the quiet corners and public spaces that invite reflection. The Église Notre-Dame de Pitié serves as a spiritual and architectural anchor, while the Musée de la Seine preserves the fragile history of the waterway that has shaped the town for generations. Residents and visitors alike find solace in the Parc du Moulin de la Galette, a garden that offers a necessary stillness. These sites, along with the nearby Great Arch of the Defense, represent the layered identity of a place that is simultaneously looking back at its heritage and forward toward the horizon.
