How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Chaintreaux

Chaintreaux rests within the quiet expanse of Seine-et-Marne, cradled by the rolling wheat plains that define this corner of the Île-de-France. The landscape is marked by the deep, silent shadows of the Bois de la Malosse and the nearby presence of the Fontainebleau et Gâtinais biosphere reserve, where sandstone boulders rise from the earth like weathered teeth. Visitors might wander toward the ancient Menhir dit la Pierre aux Aiguilles, an echo of a distant, silent past, or explore the Jardin-Musée Départemental Bourdelle. Nearby, the Château de Paley stands as a testament to the region’s enduring stone and plaster heritage.
