How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Mitry-Mory

Mitry-Mory sits within the expansive landscape of the Île-de-France, a terrain defined by the quiet flow of the Ru des Cerceaux and the nearby presence of the Canal de l'Ourcq. The horizon is marked by the distant Bois Régional du Moulin des Marais, offering a sliver of green against the encroaching suburban fabric. While the wheat plains of the Brie region whisper of older, agrarian rhythms, the area is now caught between the industrial hum of the transport routes and the enduring stillness of the countryside. It is a place of plaster and limestone, where the sky often mirrors the pale, reflective light found along the locks and waterways of the region.

Characterized by its evolution from a rural commune into a modern municipality, the town maintains a dual identity that bridges the historic centre and the hamlet of Mitry le Neuf. Its economy and daily pulse are tethered to the accessibility of the wider region, yet it retains a distinct local gravity. The atmosphere here is one of transition, where the echoes of market towns are gradually absorbed by the sprawl. It is not a place of grand tourist artifice, but rather a site of lived-in reality, shaped by the practical needs of its residents and the proximity of the bustling metropolitan orbit.

Cultural life finds expression in the structural landmarks that anchor the community. The Église Saint-Martin de Mitry-Mory stands as a testament to the town's history, its silhouette rising above the surrounding streets. Residents often gather in the Parc de la Mairie, a green lung that provides a necessary pause in the suburban day. Beyond the immediate town limits, the Château de la Villette offers a glimpse of architectural heritage, while the Canal de l'Ourcq serves as a vital artery for reflection and transit. Finally, the Parc des Douves invites quiet contemplation, grounding the town's identity in these carefully preserved spaces.
