How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Pontault-Combault

Pontault-Combault rests within the historic wheat plains of the Brie, where the horizon is defined by the gentle undulations of the landscape. Nearby, the river Morbras traces a quiet path through the terrain, while the wider reach of the Marne flows steadily toward the capital. The Forêt Régionale du Plessis Saint-Antoine offers a sanctuary of dense woodland, grounding the commune in the deep, earthen rhythms of the Île-de-France region. It is a place where the echoes of the countryside persist, touched by the soft, silvery light that painters once captured along the riverbanks.

The character of the commune is shaped by a long transition from rural life to the hum of modern existence. Once defined by its agricultural roots, the town now balances the heritage of its hamlets with the contemporary pulse of the region. The Ferme Briarde stands as a testament to this past, evoking the sturdy architecture of limestone and plaster that characterizes the local vernacular. It is a town that maintains a quiet dignity, rooted in the soil yet connected to the broader currents of life flowing toward the metropolitan heart of the nation.

Cultural life here centers on landmarks that bridge history and community. The Église Saint-Denis anchors the local identity with its enduring presence, while the Château de Pontault whispers of older, more aristocratic eras. Residents find respite in the green expanse of the Parc de l'Hôtel de Ville, a space that invites reflection amidst the shade of trees. The Médiathèque François-Mitterrand serves as a contemporary focal point for thought, and the Bois de la Grange provides a natural retreat, preserving a sense of wildness just a short distance from the paved streets of the town.
