How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Saint-Hilliers

Saint-Hilliers rests amidst the open wheat plains of the Brie, a landscape defined by the quiet flow of the Ru de Villars and the sheltering presence of the Bois Francs. Nearby, the Haut de Rougemont rises on the horizon, while the curious Gouffre du Réveillon marks the earth. This is a region of limestone and plaster, where the light hits the soil with a steady, enduring clarity. A short journey away, the Tour César stands as a silent sentinel of stone, while the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Jouy offers a sanctuary of profound peace. Exploring further, one encounters the ancient Allée couverte de l’Étang des Essarts, a testament to the deep, layered history of these fields.
