OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.
Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.
📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.
Mode d'emploi.

Avernes rests within the Parc Naturel Régional du Vexin Français, a landscape defined by the quiet flow of l’Aubette and the surrounding wheat plains. Nearby, the Bois de Galluis offers shaded paths, while the horizon is marked by the distant Butte Marisis. This is a region of limestone and plaster, where the impressionists' river light catches the fields. Visitors can explore the Musée Archéologique Départemental, which holds the secrets of the earth, or wander the grounds of the Château de Vigny. A short distance away, the Allée sépulcrale couverte néolithique dite du Bois Couturier reveals the deep, ancient silence of the Vexin plateau.
