How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Fontaine-le-Pin

Fontaine-le-Pin rests within the quiet bocage of the Calvados, where thick hedges enclose fields and the soft light of Normandy brushes over the landscape. Near the gentle flow of the Fossé 01 de Laize and the distant, wooded shelter of the Bois de Tournebu, the rhythm of rural life remains anchored in the earth. A wanderer might discover the ancient Menhir de la Roche Piquée, standing as a silent witness to eras long passed. Nearby, the ruins of the Église Saint-Pierre hold the weight of 1944, while the prehistoric Polissoirs de Poussendre offer a tangible connection to the deep, weathered history of this tranquil soil.
