How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Glos

Glos sits within the lush bocage of Normandy, where the landscape is defined by thick hedges, apple orchards, and cattle grazing in damp, green pastures. The gentle flow of la Courtonne meanders close by, while the nearby woodland of les Déserts offers a quiet canopy. Nearby, the architectural character of the region emerges in the elegant Manoir de la Quaize and the historic Manoir de Bray. Further afield, the silhouette of the Basilique Sainte-Thérèse stands as a testament to the area's enduring legacy, framed by the soft, grey light that has long defined this serene, inland corner of the Calvados department.
