How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Litteau

Litteau sits nestled in the verdant heart of the Calvados bocage, where thick hedges divide rolling fields and damp pastures sustain local herds. The landscape is defined by the soft, diffused light of Normandie and the nearby presence of the Réserve Naturelle Nationale de la Forêt Domaniale de Cerisy. Nearby, the Cours d'Eau 01 du Vaucrevon wanders through the terrain, while the Trou du Diable marks the ancient earth. Visitors may explore the grand architecture of the Château de Balleroy or the historic Manoir de la Rivière, both standing as quiet sentinels in a countryside that carries the heavy, respectful memory of 1944 within its soil.
