How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Vendes

Vendes rests within the quintessential Norman bocage, a landscape defined by a mosaic of small fields and dense, ancient hedges. Here, the soft grey light filters through apple orchards, illuminating a countryside where cattle graze in wet pastures. Nearby, the water of le Rhône flows quietly through the terrain, while the silhouette of le Mont rises on the horizon. Visitors can explore the weight of history at the Musée de la bataille de Tilly-sur-Seulles 1944, wander the grounds of the Château de Juvigny-sur-Seulles, or find stillness at the Abbaye Saint-Martin de Mondaye, a site reflecting the region's enduring spiritual heritage.
