How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Brétigny

Brétigny sits nestled within the quiet, rolling landscape of le Neubourg, a region defined by the soft, grey light and the traditional bocage of thick hedges and small, verdant fields. Nearby, the Bois de la Houssaye offers a dense canopy, while the nearby la Risle flows through the valley floor. In this gentle territory of apple orchards and flint-built architecture, the weight of the past is carried quietly. Visitors can explore the impressive Château d'Harcourt, wander the evocative ruins of the Château de Brionne, or admire the historical elegance of the Manoir de la Haule, all found within the wider countryside.
