How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Champenard

Champenard sits quietly within the rolling expanse of les Varennes, a landscape defined by the soft grey light that once drew painters to this corner of Normandie. Nearby, the Ru d'Anière meanders through the landscape, while the dense canopy of the Bois des Noes offers a sanctuary of shadowed paths. In this region, apple orchards and cattle-dotted pastures persist under a quiet, contemplative sky. Visitors may explore the nearby Château de Gaillon, an imposing palace of history, or discover the ancient, weathered mystery of the Dolmen d'Aubevoye. The echoes of the past linger here, held within the flint walls of the surrounding countryside.
