How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Le Thuit

Le Thuit rests within the quiet embrace of les Varennes, a landscape defined by the soft grey light that once drew painters to these inland horizons. Near the Bois du Thuit and the waters of the Fossé 01 de la Commune du Thuit, the terrain rises toward Mont Pivin, where the bocage of small fields and thick hedges shapes the earth. Nearby, the ruins of Château Gaillard loom over the land, while the Théâtre romain des Câteliers offers a silent window into the past. Visitors may also discover the Manoir de Senneville, tucked away amidst orchards that yield the scent of ripening apples.
