How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Suzay

Suzay sits within the Vexin Normand, a landscape defined by the quiet rhythm of the bocage and the dense shade of the nearby Bois Brûlé. The air here holds the soft grey light that once drew painters to these fields, where apple orchards stretch toward the horizon. While le Gambon flows close by, the broader current of la Seine remains a presence in the wider countryside. Nearby, visitors encounter the formidable ruins of Château Gaillard, the ancient stones of the Théâtre romain des Câteliers, and the peaceful, flint-built architecture of the Collégiale Notre-Dame, all remnants of a long-settled land.
