How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Vesly

Vesly sits quietly within the expansive uplands of les Varennes, a landscape shaped by the gentle contours of Mont Aval and the nearby Ruisseau Saint-Léger. Here, the atmosphere is defined by the soft grey light of Normandie, where the bocage of thick hedges and apple orchards frames a slow, pastoral rhythm. Nearby, the Bois de l'Oseraie offers a verdant retreat, while the Parc Naturel Régional du Vexin Français stretches across the horizon. Visitors might uncover the weathered remnants of the Donjon de Neaufle, explore the ancient Allée couverte, or admire the stoic silhouette of the Manoir de Chauvincourt, each marking the deep, quiet history of this agrarian heartland.
