How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Taillebourg

Taillebourg sits within a landscape of limestone plains, where the gentle currents of le Boillard wind through the village and the nearby woods of les Brandes. In the wider countryside, the Butte du Penchant rises above the fields, while la Charente flows quietly toward the distant sea. Visitors can explore the ruins of the Château de Taillebourg, which stands as a silent sentinel over the valley, or wander the elegant grounds of the Château de Panloy. Nearby, the Lanterne des morts offers a poignant glimpse into the region’s past, set against a horizon defined by the bright, expansive light that drifts in from the Atlantic coast.
