How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Vénérand

Vénérand sits nestled within the quiet limestone plains of the Charente-Maritime, where the landscape is defined by the gentle wanderings of les Fontenelles and the nearby shelter of the Bois de Mestreau. The air carries the faint, golden promise of cognac vineyards that stretch toward the horizon. Visitors might wander to the Abbaye de Fontdouce, where ancient stones hold a profound, enduring silence, or explore the Paléosite de Saint-Césaire to touch the deep roots of human history. Further afield, the Arc de Germanicus stands as a weathered sentinel, a stark reminder of the classical echoes that resonate throughout this serene, inland corner of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
