How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Mercœur

Mercœur sits quietly within the Bassin de la Dordogne, a landscape defined by granite soils, chestnut groves, and the quiet rhythm of hedged pastures. The Ruisseau du Deyroux threads through this terrain, while the heights of the Puy des Fourches rise nearby, offering a vantage over the rolling hills. Beyond the woodland of the Suc de Sauvage, visitors might encounter the weathered stone of the Château du Bac or find reflection by the Barrage de Hautefage. It is a place of water and ancient stone, where the land feels held by the memory of the high plateau and the slow passage of local rivers.
