How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

Rougnat sits amidst the quiet, granite-rich expanse of the Creuse, a landscape defined by the shifting moods of the high plateau and the shade of the Bois de Cheix. The nearby la Gasne meanders through fields that echo with the memory of past toil, while the rising outline of Mont Pénury guards the horizon. Exploring the surroundings reveals the Villa Gallo-romaine de Coux, a lingering whisper of antiquity, alongside the proud stone presence of the Château de Châteaubodeau. Further afield, the Château de Châtain stands as a testament to the enduring architectural heritage of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
