How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Sardent

Sardent nestles within a landscape defined by the quiet presence of granite and the deep, enduring shade of the Bois Châtenet. Here, the land is a mosaic of hedged pastures where Limousin cattle graze under the watchful gaze of the nearby Puy de Gaudy. Water defines the rhythm of the commune, with the river le Marque tracing its path through the terrain and the tranquil Étang de Masmangeas reflecting the sky. Nearby, the rugged Gorges du Thaurion carve into the earth, while the vast Parc Naturel Régional de Millevaches en Limousin stretches toward the horizon. Visitors might explore the ancient Dolmen n° 2 du Masneuf, seek the echoes of history at Le Vieux Château, or discover the dedicated life of a local artisan at La maison Martin Nadaud.
